I went to my very first gun show this past summer. I always wanted to own a gun, I grew up around them and I though why not, I’m a responsible law abiding citizen; Is this to say that everyone else that make  purchase is not a law abiding citizen? No way. You still need to go pass a background check, before a seller can sell you a firearm.  So, I made my first purchase this summer, I bought a Hi Point 9mm for home defense and range shooting.

I’ll get straight to the point, if you ever thought about buying a firearm, for you home or personal protection, educate yourself! Go and talk with a professional gun dealer. I would not buy from a pawn shop, if your a first time buyer. You need to find out the type, size, caliber of firearm that’s good for you, then you will need to learn and practice  gun safety! If, all you want to do, is buy  a gun, and never learn how to hold it, aim it and possibly fire it…Get Something Else! The last thing our society needs, is another temperamental, irresponsible gun owner!

In choosing, talk to someone who know guns and do some reading, packing a firearm is a great responsibility. The more you read, you’ll be much more equipped and knowledgeable in making your decision in making your first purchase.

Generating leads takes time and effort. Since time and effort are apart of this effort, you can not dismiss the associated costs. Many small business owners will try and generate leads without spending the needed capitol to either automate or outsource this important effort to grow their business. You could try growing your business with flyers or by word of mouth, but can reach far more potential customers withing your geographical location by going to where they are…on Twitter.  How to get more followers is a popular subject of search on many search engines and many who read about these results are inundated with so much information, they do noting.

For those on twitter, you can definitely grow you network of followers, locally or in a specific region. The internet and many social networking platforms are powerful tools any business owner can use to generate new business, you just have to go to the places where the people are.  If your not on the more popular social networks, your probably still placing ads in the local news paper.

As a home based or small business owner you want to exude confidence and authority. You are an expert in your field. How are you conveying your message to your customer? Just like your body language, the words you use and how you use them can take on a whole new meaning.
Some of the words we all have a tendency to use say something completely different to our customers. Let’s say you are placing a call to a customer. When I call I say, “Hi, Joe, I’m calling to tell you about the latest property we have available”. I am very clear, succinct, I have a smile in my voice, and once I finish my reason for calling, I shut up and let my customer or prospect talk.
One of our clients, who we were consulting with on sales, couldn’t figure out why he was having a hard time during his sales calls. What we found out was when he would call rather than being firm and confident, with a smile in his voice; he sounded very tentative, “Hi, I am just calling to see if”. No this verbiage does not work. He did not identify himself, his company, and this client sounded very nervous on the telephone.
So be very careful you don’t use words or phrases that sound as if you are apologizing to your customer right the off bat. In fact, don’t use them at all. Take them out of your vocabulary. Be clear and concise. Speak in an even tone. Nervous people have a tendency to speak way too loudly; or so softly you can’t understand them, or some people speak very quickly. Also, be aware this is not something you are going to fix overnight. These phrases are a habit for many of us. So practice, practice and practice some more. Do role plays and tape yourself. Then listen to yourself, or have family members listen to you and critique you.
Think of the teachers you had in school, or a professor in college who was able to speak in a nice even tone, yet his or her voice carried. Now obviously this is not necessary on the telephone. However, this kind of even toned, lower than usual voice is the kind you want to use.  Try to emulate this person in your telephone calling or in dealing with customers face to face.
The way you speak is very important.  The pitch and inflection of your voice are also very important. If you have a lot of trouble with this you might want to purchase books on speaking that address the issues of pitch and inflection in your speaking voice.  Check out Amazon or Barnes and Noble. They have a wide selection. Again, you are not going to change this overnight. Remember, practice makes perfect.
Two additional  common phrases we all have a tendency to use are I believe, and I think. This is fine for your friends and family. However, as a business owner and “an expert” you had better “know”.
For all of you coaches out there be careful with the “we will hopefully achieve”.  Make a list of all that they will achieve by going with your program, obviously with the caveat that they do the work outlined.
So take inventory of what you are saying on the telephone; your in-person sales and in your dealings with your customers (for those of you in a storefront). Is your “word language” conveying what you want it to. Or like our body language sometimes, are your words conveying something totally different to your customer. Check to see if you are using any of the above phrases and stop!  It may take a while but you will be happy you did.

Many people want to know what a living will is and how to write a living will. A Living Will may also be called a health care directive.

It is a document that allows you to choose who you want to make health care decisions for you if you are incapacitated and cannot make the choices yourself. It varies by state but this person is most often called your health care agent.

In most states, this document also allows you to make health care statements and how to write a living will depends on these laws.

Usually these health care statements are split into two categories.

Your beliefs; and

Your desires for treatment or treatment withheld based on the circumstances.

Here are some common topics you can write about for beliefs.

• Goals for my health care:
• Fears about my health care:
• Spiritual or religious beliefs and traditions
• Beliefs about when life would be no longer worth living:
• Thoughts about how my medical condition might affect my family:

Here are the most common topics for health care desires.

• If I had a reasonable chance of recovery, and were temporarily unable to decide or speak for myself, I would want:
• If I were dying and unable to decide or speak for myself, I would want:
• If I were permanently unconscious and unable to decide or speak for myself, I would want:
• If I were completely dependent on others for my care and unable to decide or speak for myself, I would want:
• In all circumstances, my doctors will try to keep me comfortable and reduce my pain. This is how I feel about pain relief if it would affect my alertness or if it could shorten my life:
• Who I would like to be my doctor:
• Where I would like to live to receive health care:
• Where I would like to die and other wishes I have about dying:
• My wishes about donating parts of my body when I die:
• My wishes about what happens to my body when I die (cremation, burial):

These are the basics on how to write a living will. To make it legal, you will need to sign it either in front of witnesses, have it notarized or possibly both. Each state has specific requirements as to whether you signature needs to be witnessed and or notarized. Please check with your state statutes or an attorney licensed in your state for this detail.

I strongly recommend having a Living Will along with your last Will and Testament. Both can be drafted without an attorney if you conduct a little research.
